| SOFOKLESHOTEL
(PELION) is situated at Agios Ioannis, Pelion's oldest and most
developed seaside resort on the northeastern coast. It occupies
a superb location right on the promenade overlooking the main beach
of Agios Ioannis; an ideal spot for beach-lovers and swimming enthusiasts,
who on waking will be faced with the irresistible temptation of
an early morning dip under a bright, rising sun. A couple of strides
across the road are most assuredly enticement enough for such a
great pleasure just before breakfast, which can then be enjoyed
on the hotel patio. For late morning or afternoon swims one can
have a choice of two more lovely beaches in the neighbourhood: Plaka,
a stunning beach, which can be reached after a 5-minute walk, and
Papa Nero, an equally splendid beach in the opposite direction,
about 12 minutes away. What's more, for the adventurous there are
more treasures waiting a little farther down the coast. A 2-minute
walk will bring you to the village centre, where there are plenty
of good restaurants and tavernas to choose from. Nearby is also
the tiny, sleepy harbour, where one can observe the activities of
the local fishermen, and the coming and going of the little craft
used by both locals and visitors for their pleasure.
 Hotel
manager is Dimitri, the English-German-and-Italian-speaking owner,
who, after spending many years managing hotels on the Greek islands,
has returned to his birthplace to take over the family property.
Together with his wife Lara, whose refreshingly feminine touch has
contributed to the creation of a lovely decor and atmosphere, they
have established an excellent reputation especially for their quality
of service and obliging hospitality.
The SOFOKLESHOTEL
(PELION) has 20 twin and double-bedded rooms, most
of which have sea view and balcony. Each one has its own w.c.-cum-shower,
air-conditioning, TV and central heating.
 The
bar is at the spacious reception lounge, which is particularly charming
and inviting thanks to the use of local stone and various decorative
natural objects found on the shore and the surrounding mountain
slopes. The fireplace is a discreet reminder of the fact that Pelion
is a place to visit not only in summer but also in autumn and winter.
The American style buffet breakfast offers a
wide selection of delicacies such as home-made jams, honey, cereals,
yogurt, cheese, ham, sausages and eggs, fruit salad, fresh fruit,
coffee and tea, orange juice.
For guests who prefer to
swim in fresh water there is a swimming pool. Dimensions: 5 x 9
m. Depth: 0.6 to 1.6 m.
